Baron Maddock, known on YouTube as Elevator Adventures n' More with Baron! (formerly DMV Elevators and More) is an elevator enthusiast from the Washington Metropolitan area in the United States. He is known for his verbal commentary free videos.

History[]

He was born in 2006. In his childhood, he would frequently watch videos from Dieselducy and some other filmers such as CVE9120.

In 2015, he and his father started a YouTube channel where they would both explore a bunch of elevators known as Baron's Epic Elevator Adventures. His mascot for that channel was an inflatable, remote controlled R2-D2. That channel was discontinued about a year later after his dad's laptop broke and could not retrieve the original files.

Then in 2018, he got his first phone which was a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. His first elevator filmed with it was the JW Marriott in Washington DC, but he sadly deleted that and all other videos except for a few in early 2020 as he was annoyed with some of the verbal commentary in those videos.

Then in 2020 during the Coronavirus pandemic, he went to the Tysons Corner Center mall in Tysons, VA, United States and filmed the elevators at the Nordstrom store there. That was when he started creating verbal commentary free videos of elevators for his own personal use. His Galaxy S7 Edge died in November of 2020 and got a Samsung Galaxy S10+ to film elevators with.

In 2021, he dropped his phone in a port-a-potty while attending a concert and it still worked after he retrieved it. However, the quality of the audio and some of the video had gotten noticeably worse. In December 2021, he accidentally dropped his phone and resulted in over 50% of the touchscreen not being able to work. After that incident, he got a new phone, the Google Pixel 5a on December 20th.

On Christmas day of 2021, he got his current laptop, a MacBook Air and he started playing around with some videos in iMovie. Then in January 2022, he went to this one plaza in Leesburg, VA, United States to film some elevators there after a road trip and later that night, he decided to establish his own channel. He came up with the name DMV Elevators and More as he films elevators in the Washington Metropolitan Area (known as the DMV) and he films more stuff too, such as railfanning public transportation. He uploaded his trailer on January 16th and released his first video on the 20th.

Starting September 2023, he is putting elevator company logos in his thumbnails, but will still use the conventional Radio Canada font for generic companies without logos. He had a problem with the website he has his photos on downloading videos from the end of September till early October 2023 resulting in a brief hiatus from publishing videos except for shorts. He resolved it by installing a video transcoding software on his computer.

As of December 2023, his new main video editing tool is Adobe Premiere Pro 2023. He used iMovie for more boring elevator videos or if he was in a rush. Now he uses Premiere Pro full time. At that time, he started to depict exterior and interior views in a good number of elevators for his thumbnails.

In January 2024, he started to put location logos in conjunction with elevator company logos in his thumbnails. In March 2024, he got his current phone, a Samsung Galaxy S24. He exchanged the first one he had due to a faulty battery. As of April 2024, he has announced fluctuations with his publication schedule due to his busy schedule for 2024 and beyond.

In May 2024, he started to post hand dryer videos via shorts as a result of reviving his childhood interest in hand dryers. His first video he uploaded was of a Speedflow hand dryer at a park in Herndon, VA[1]. About two weeks later, he created a separate channel for hand dryers called Hand Dryer Adventures n' More with Baron! (formerly DMV Hand Dryers and More). He is planning to put all of his hand dryer videos on that channel.

In January 2025, he conducted a poll on his channel and asked from two names he should rebrand to. On February 1st, he renamed himself to his current name, Elevator Adventures n' More with Baron! to prevent confusion with the YouTube user, dmvelevators.

Branding[]

Channel name[]

Out of all names he managed to think of, he chose to call himself DMV Elevators and More. The DMV part means the Washington Metropolitan Area (aka. the DMV), the Elevators part represents his passion for filming elevators, and the and More part represents the other things he films such as railfanning public transportation.

As soon as he started investigating who else filmed the Nordstrom Tysons Corner Center (his first video published), he ran into a little bit of controversy as there was a filmer who went by the name of dmvelevators. He did not realize someone else had that name. In May of 2023, he ran a poll asking if he should change his name due to confusion and not making him the superior DMV Elevators with a good number of people suggesting yes. As of February 1st, 2025, he changed his name to Elevator Adventures n' More with Baron!

Profile picture[]

His profile picture is of him taking a photograph of the former Hyatt Regency in Reston VA elevators. The elevator depicted was a 1990 Schindler Haughton elevator. As of 2022, the elevators have been modded by Schindler and have been keycarded since June 2023[2].

He changed his profile picture on February 24th, 2025 from the Hyatt Regency in Reston to a picture of himself riding/photographing the glass Otis elevator at the Center for Business Ingenuity at Gannon University in Erie PA.

Introduction[]

In January of 2022, his dad produced an 8 second intro for him using stock templates. It consists of an elevator door that opens into a large room with the name of the channel moving along the walls. The sound effects are stock audio and are a Schindler (Westinghouse) MT chime with a machine room of a vintage elevator.

As of February 1st, 2025, he changed his introduction to match his new, current name. It features various clips of elevators he's filmed, as well as a clip he shot of a London Underground 1996 Stock train.

October 2023 - January 2025 Features some animated elevator buttons, with a mouse clicking a like button resembling a Dewhurst US91-15 button, a subscribe button resembling a custom Innovation bar button, and a bell button resembling an Adams Survivor Plus button. It features various elevator chimes and elevator music. It is also the first outro to include a copyright notice. https://youtu.be/Pt2T8nM0MBs
Thanksgiving Day - Christmas Day 2023 & 2024 Same thing as the 2023-2025 outro, except the background image is Christmas related for the Christmas season. The elevator chimes are different than the ones used in the main 2023-2025 outro.

The 2023 one includes a LoFi version of Jingle Bells by DJ Williams, which was formerly available on the YouTube audio library. Most videos with that outro have been muted due to multiple false copyright claims on the music used. The 2024 one has Jingle Bells by Kevin MacLeod used instead because of the copyright issues listed on the 2023 outro.

February 2025 - present Features various elevator clips to represent a like, subscribers being added, and a Westinghouse dinner bell going off to represent a notification. It also includes a new copyright notice, as well as credits for both the outro and intro music. The intro music is jazz while the outro music is country. https://youtu.be/g30LGyn_ujE

Typography[]

He likes to select fonts for the video based on the building itself and its branding. For example, a video of an elevator of the Washington Metro would have the elevator name title be typeset in Helvetica, the font they use. The font used in his thumbnails is Radio Canada. He discontinued the video fonts thing in early September 2023 due to it being inconvenient for him to easily add text boxes as a result of a glitch that happened with iMovie. He is now continuing this as of December 2023, but in a different format.
